Mairee Pool is a free campsite about 30km south of Karatha. It is one of the warmest swimming holes you will come across. You can stay in the water all day it is so warm. There are no crocodiles to worry about either. Mairee Pool has a rope swing from a tree and you can swim out to some rocks in the middle of the Maitland River. It’s a great free camping site and well off the highway.
